I am the biggest mess when it comes to being away from my family. At the risk of sounding maudlin, I never imagined that homesickness would be part of building an exciting and luminous life in Bali ; I miss my family and Silas and my room and I feel it achingly every minute. It makes me anxious to not be spending more time with these people I must hold close, and I wonder constantly if they are indulging themselves with pleasure as I am. My family is the light of my life. I am acutely aware that this privilege to choose my life’s path is founded upon the last generation’s toil.

The onus is on me to build Berawa Art House well, to prove that we can have the best of all worlds. I believe, because the universe is ours to mould, that all my dreams will collide ; there is nothing to forsake. At the end of the day I have two precious homes and a big, beautiful family with love that transcends any geography.
